The Newton County
Water & Sewerage Authority was created by the state legislature
in 1970. In the beginning the Authority employed one full-time employee
and served fifty-two water customers. Today the Authority has a staff
of forty-nine full-time employees and serves 22,105 water customers
and 5,680 sewer customers.
